survey says [23 Feb 2006|05:33pm]
[ mood | bitchy ]

buying things online is not as much fun as buying them in life.

i just bought the game apples to apples and also brown chucks (no one anywhere has the grey ones in my size - poop - but at least i get to be shoe twins with amanda - yay). now i have to wait until next week to actually have these items, plus i had to spend all kinds of extra money for shipping.

but this is what happens when you don't have time to have a life. oh well.

it can't come quickly enough [22 Feb 2006|10:22pm]
[ mood | tired ]

i can't believe it's already almost thursday... this weekend was amazing with joe here, we did many awesome things i wish i had time to go into detail about. i will say that the highlights definitely include the sunday afternoon paddleboat adventure and our wine tour near-disaster-turned-awesome. any day that ends in pie by a fireplace is a good friggin' day. i was really happy that a few of my good friends got to spend quality time with joe. it makes me feel happy when my ever-so-separate lives come together, if only for a few days.

i've been working frantically since i got back to work on tuesday. andrea left for minnesota and is gone indefinitely. her return ticket said april 7th, but it's all in the air depending on her trial. so that means i'm home alone for who knows how long.

even though i worked for 13 hours (so far) today, i'm still a happy camper about it all. i have no plans this weekend really because i have a funny feeling there's not going to be one... except for when i go over to boalt to help the moot court team practice and i will get to see emily. that will be rad.

ok i am very tired and just waiting to file this motion... my eyes are blurring now so i'm going to sign off. bye bye.

shameless [15 Feb 2006|07:18pm]
[ mood | bored ]

so apparently i'm allowed to do what they call "business development." what this means is, i can give free legal advice to people at companies who might someday use our services. we at Perkins do high tech software/internet/IP work - patents, copyrights, trade marks, trade secrets - you name it.

anyway, if you have LEGIT legal question (i.e. not merely theoretical but something that poses a legal question for your business) related to the above, you can contact me. k? and actually i don't think the questions would have to even be IP related...

(i'm thinking of people like mike, ian and nick who work for the kinds of companies we represent all the time... i can even take you to lunch - woo hoo.)

how to make your gay best friend move to your city [14 Feb 2006|09:54am]
[ mood | excited ]

i just decided to rent a car and book a room up in wine country for when joe comes to town. he's never been up there and if i'm going balls out to get the guy to move here, then this must be part of the agenda. so next monday, i'll be a-tastin' wine. sweet, sweet wine.

(i just realized that the title of this post could apply to my other gay best friend. but i've already tried and failed to get missy to move here, so i'm going for broke with joe.)

super special san francisco stuff [08 Feb 2006|10:46am]
[ mood | excited ]

my bff is coming to visit me next weekend. i want to plan some excellent adventures that do not require a time machine (or a car).

so any suggestions for awesome, non-touristy san francisco things to do would be much appreciated.

ideas i already have:

1) a day in golden gate park where we go to the deyoung and rent boats on stowe lake
2) high tea at lovejoy's tea room
3) a walk at land's end followed by hot chocolate at the cliff house
4) ferry building farmer's market and a boat ride over to sausalito
5) brunch at citizen cake and window shopping in hayes valley

we also have dinner reservations at range for sunday evening, per suggestion of the lovely and talented amanda. i'm excited 'bout that too.

i would especially love some nightlife suggestions. the boy lives in NYC, so it will be hard to impress, but i'd like to try. what's SF got that NYC hasn't - besides the weather?? huh??

run run run run run run run run awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay [07 Feb 2006|10:23pm]
i had the best time running over at kezar stadium tonight. there's definitely a whole scene going on over there. like teams of folks training for triathalons and old ladies who run fatser than me. it's all very inspiring. i need to figure out how many times around = 1 mile. i felt too dumb to ask anyone there, though i'm sure someone would have told me. i did 6 laps and then ran the stairs for a while. i was planning to do a bunch more laps but then my stupid iPod - the NEW one - froze up on me. i fucking hate it when that happens. the very first generation iPod never did that ever. but the more recent ones do it all the fucking time right in the middle of a good run. now, i recognize that these things are computers, and bouncing them around makes them work hard, but still!! the only fucking reason i bought it was so i'd be more inspired to run. and there's really nothing worse than an awesome jam freezing up right in the middle! not ok. i've been tooling around on the apple support site to see if there's anything i'm doing wrong, but i don't think so. i just think they have kind of a sucky product, after all the hype.

but still, it was an awesome run. and i'm hoping to convince some people to start training with me (pete, rebecca??) so that i don't have to feel so anti-social when i work out. i don't mind it really - in fact i often prefer to work out alone. but i have so little time these days, it would be nice to kill two birds, etc.

speaking of which - amanda, when are you coming to the gym with me, huh??

ok, i'm going to bed.

V-Day plans [06 Feb 2006|03:58pm]
[ mood | apathetic ]

I am going to break my tradition of watching Depeche Mode 101 (they were my First True Love). Instead, I'm going to see the Lovemakers & the Jim Yoshii Pile Up at Great American next Tuesday.

All ya'll should come too. We can shake it shake it.

[ mood | recumbent ]

here are the things i bought today:

1 pair of new running shoes (saucony hurricanes)
6 pairs of running socks (apparantly they make a difference, i will let you know...)
1 case for my new iPod with an arm band for when i run

(do we see the theme of my day yet?)

5 CDs:

neko case - the virginian
the delgados - hate
broken social scene - you forgot it in people
interpol - remixes
we are scientists - with love and squalor

(i went to aquarius to buy the new belle and sebastian but silly me it's not out till tuesday. so i got these instead. oops.)

andrea and i have decided we are going to train to run races. i think we'll start with a half marathon and see how we do with that. should be awesome. tomorrow i am going to boot camp. i need to get my shit in shape.

ground hog day update [02 Feb 2006|04:02pm]
i got to sleep in. i had an amazing client meeting w/Internet Archive and got a personal tour of the place from Brewster. then i got to the office and did some work, but mostly i made a shit-ton of plans for this weekend. i am not certain how i am going to do all of them, since some of them happen at the exact same time, but maybe i will figure out how to bend the space/time continuum and do it all. you never know. in any event, i have achieved my goal of having things to look forward to. tonight i am meeting up with dan and we are seeing the squid and the whale movie. yeah yeah, life is good. i should do work again i guess:)

i really wanted to continue my tradition of watching "ground hog day" on ground hog day, but it was not to be this year. alas.

i got a raise today. [27 Jan 2006|02:26pm]

kind of weird, but also kind of awesome. it's got nothing to do with me - it was a universal increase so that our firm can "stay competitive."

the better news, it's retroactive to jan 1. sweet.

dear Mac iPod owners... [25 Jan 2006|09:10am]
[ mood | annoyed ]

it is taking FOREVER to load my new iPod with music (it's the new 30 w/video capability). i am thinking maybe i don't have enough power in my USB port - does anyone know whether the iBook G3 has the USB 2.0 or what? i looked in the manual but i couldn't find it.

also, if it's the older/weaker version, is there a way to update the USB port w/o getting a whole new computer???

i would call apple for the answers to these questions but i don't have time to do it today, and this seemed easier:)

i did it [24 Jan 2006|04:03pm]
[ mood | optimistic ]

i sucked it up and bought a new iPod. i got the new 30 in johnny cash black. it's sexy, and it matches my razor phone. interestingly, it cost me less than said razor phone... hmmm... apparently it can play movies and tv on it too, but i don't know how that whole part works just yet. oh i just realized that my phone has a video camera, so this could be interesting:)

anyway, i am hoping this will provide new motivation for me to start working out again. it's so stupid but i get really bored with working out if i don't have my jams. i also need to buy new running shoes. then i will be all suped up and ready to rumble.

or something.

[20 Jan 2006|02:30pm]
[ mood | tired ]

today was a Big Career Day for me. i made my first court appearance. i was by myself. i won. i rule.

now it's only 2:30, and i'm so tired. i got up super early (after not too much sleep either) in order to get down to the hayward court house by 8:30 on BART. then i got back and we had to file something that i can't talk about on the internet but is awesome. i want to go home but i have to wait until ken (the partner i work with) gets back from another hearing so i can give him a full run down fo the hearing i went to this morning.

tonight i am sleeping over at amanda's fabulous new apartment in the mission. when, oh when, am i going to get it together and move to the mission? i mean, i like my neighborhood and i have some really good friends there - but honestly, the only place i ever really wanted to live when i moved to SF was the mission. i ended up in my place mostly b/c andrea hands down REFUSED to live over there, and this was the next best option. ok, the apartment IS amazing. it will be hard to give it up. but i have serious plans to move my butt to the mission. for reals, i need to make it happen.

anyway - good plans for this weekend include: the abovementioned sleep over. saturday, we shall venture to the farmer's market at the ferry building and then i will go to the gym. later that night we are going out dancing at the make out room (everyone's invited - come to the make out room!). sunday i have plans for get this: brunch, getting tarrot cards read, meeting up for coffee, then someone is making me dinner. it will be a happy weekend:)

update about stuff [12 Jan 2006|11:39am]
[ mood | hungry ]

last night dinner with sharon was awesome. we went to the mission cha cha cha which neither ofus had been to before. i half expected it to be cheesy but we both really liked it. me drinking most of the sangria by myself may have contributed to my enjoyment i will say that. the present sharon got me is *awesome* - a baby pink t-shirt with the pooping back and forth symbol. hahahaha. i need the perfect event for debuting said t-shirt... i am going to wash it first though b/c it's kinda big and i need to shrink it. yay - i'm excited. oh and i got to see her and ian's new house which is SO CUTE i can't even deal. there are lots of kitties and doggies who live in the building too and everyone seems nice there. i'm so happy for them that they found such a good spot!

then i came home a little drunk and had to have a talk with our weird fratty upstairs neighbors b/c andrea's family is getting rid of their old volvo and want us to take it. we have a parking spot on our lease but the boys have been using it all along. well they turned out to be total assholes about it and i had no idea how dumb they were until they kept saying things like - "i thought you guys were cool. i'm aking you to take me at face value and through the written contract out the window because we've been so cool to you." this was their argument?!? they KNOW it's int he lease and yet soehow they think they get the spot. they power tripped us about it and ultimately i think we don't want to deal with the fall out of having them hate us and be jerks for the rest of the time living there. so that sucks.

then pete came over and we watched the new episode of Lost which was AWESOME.

anyway, i'm already in weekend mode in my head. lack-of-focus week 06 is still in full effect. oh well. i will be a better person when i'm 29.
